Overview of Program - Hairdressing and Beauty
APHEDA’s Hairdressing and
Beauty International training commenced in 2010 and is building each year. We
are proud of our trainers and acknowledge the first class skill levels they
bring to our program. We at APHEDA highly recognise their commitment and seek
formal accreditation in Cambodia.
Our
goal has always been two-fold, to train teachers “TOT” and develop technical
skills in one, resulting in quality Co-operatives in remote communities for our
trainees.
The
key skill areas in the hair&beauty program are women's hair cutting, bridal
up styling, make-up, nail art, perming and small business management. We at
APHEDA concentrate on teaching staff within the centres and trainers transfer their
skills onto students.
We
are proud to work with our partners in five provinces including some of the
poorest districts of the country. They are:
- Women's Development Centres, Department of Women's Affairs - Preah Vihear
- Kampot and Thmar Kul - Battambang
- Cambodian Women for Peace and Development - Kampong Cham
- Community Education Centre - Mong Russey District, Battambang
- Department of Women's Affairs - Oddar Meanchey
Importantly,
all our training includes life skill components in reproductive health, HIV
awareness, hygiene, anti-domestic violence and nutrition training.
On
completion, our graduates are supported to form small cooperatives with
interest free loans, equipment and financial management training. We, at APHEDA
recognise that skills without jobs are unsustainable.
APHEDA
will continue to support teachers with a professional development program, as
this ensures currency and safety in the workplace.
Our
next week of training includes International Colour Application Techniques and
Small Business Management. In 2015, our agenda will include Wedding Outfitting,
that’s dressing the bride and guests, and English Language for Beginners.
